What is “cyber” anyway? Most of us can’t define it, but we think we know it when we see it. The cybergamut community of practice was established in 2008 to provide a forum for cyber professionals to share ideas, learn from each other, and further their professional development. The founder of cybergamut is a non-technical, self-proclaimed “suit” who, having hosted more than 30 Technical Tuesday events, is prepared to share his unique perspective on current cyber topics and issues. Expect a great deal of breadth without too much depth, especially on the highly technical topics. You won’t necessarily leave this session with any new hacking skills, but you should be better equipped to understand more of the cyber challenges confronting your organization. Biography: Mr. Scott Sheldon is the founder and Chief Suit of cybergamut, which is a worldwide community of practice for cyber professionals across industry, academia, and government providing ongoing education, training, and certification opportunities throughout all phases of a cyber professional’s career, utilizing traditional methods as well as non-traditional techniques like puzzles, Easter Eggs, and problem solving. After serving eight years as an officer in the United States Air Force, Mr. Sheldon joined Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in 1997 where he’s been a program manager, line manager, and business developer. He’s currently a Vice President and senior account executive in SAIC’s Cyber and Information Solutions Business Unit, focusing on capture management for large Department of Defense programs. He’s an active member of Columbia Presbyterian Church, and in his spare time, he and his family enjoy travel, running, skiing, and, of course, playing with their family dog.
