March 2011
Fellow Members,
We are quickly completing the first quarter for 2011 and as promised, I will continue to deliver a Quarterly Chapter Status to our membership so I can communicate to you how we are progressing as a chapter, report our accomplishments, plans, and concerns going forward. Highlights include our chapter reaching over 2,700 members as of the date of this note. This growth is a reflection of all the hard work our Board Members and more importantly our volunteers who support each Site. This success is evidence of their hard work and dedication and I thank each of you. I am happy to announce that we have a lot to report as we close out the first quarter. I am changing the format providing significant milestones as they are reached on a quarterly basis.
2011 PMI Baltimore Chapter Renewal
On an annual basis, PMI Global Operations Center (PMI GOC) requires that each chapter complete a rigid application process describing the chapter’s activities, confirming we are up to date with all documents as required by PMI GOC. As a result of improving our processes in capturing, recording, and maintaining our Chapter Milestones, we will able to complete the renewal process and gained Chapter Renewal approval as of March 16, 2011. This approval is good for 12 months ending March 31, 2012, at time we will have similar success as we grow and prosper in our region.
15 Year Celebration – 10/5 Program
As previously announced celebration of this milestone, the PMI Baltimore Chapter will be offering for 4 months, a special 15 Year Celebration Bonus for every site event for the months of March, April, June, and September, PMI Baltimore Chapter members will incur a cost of only $10.00 per Site Event and $5.00 for the Columbia Site only for each of the 4 months. This Bonus is to show our appreciation to our members and the support each of you have provided to us over the last few years. As a result of this promotion, Annapolis, Columbia, Frederick, and Timonium recorded record participants for these Sites. This is a success we are all very proud of.
UMBC Hanover Site Meeting
We continue to provide the necessary planning for a Project Management Panel Discussion which will be hosted at the UMBC Campus and will be an actual Hanover Site Meeting. This event will be planned, coordinated, and executed by the graduate students who have registered for the spring 2011 ENMG650: Fundamentals of Project Management class. All processes and procedures for plan such an event will be provided by the Chapter and is schedule to occur in May 3, 2011. Please register now under our Events tab, space is running out.
Site Event Registration System
Back in January, we began the use of the Site Event Registration System and it has worked flawlessly. Granted, we did have some initial software/windows issues but that was to be expected. Despite the low level issues, we were still able to provide all PDU receipts, validation, and appropriate reports to PMI GOC electronically so each of you can benefit and allow us to record your activity for you and process all submission accordingly. We are only chapter in the world which provide this type of service, something we should all be excited about. To reiterate, the objective for this effort is to offer to our membership the ability through our Event Registration System to post all PDU activity for our membership in support of Chapter specific activities. Originally it was only approved for 1 / 2 PDU events but now the Chapter is approved to submit all Chapter events.
The Survey Says...
It is SO critical that the PMI Baltimore Chapter’s Board of Directors hear from you, our most important Stakeholders to insure that we plan effectively for 2011. Please take a few minutes to complete the PMI Baltimore Chapter 2011 Membership Survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/MVV2L9W. Your window of opportunity to be heard is from Sunday, March 13 through Sunday, April 10, 2011. This year, our goal for survey responses is 30% of our 2600+ members.
To entice you to complete the survey, we will hold a drawing for 2 FREE 1-Day PMI Baltimore Seminars (one Seminar per winner, 2 winners). All you need to do to be entered in the drawing is to complete the survey and provide your PMI number at the end of the survey.
This is YOUR PMI Chapter! Please help us to help and support you and to provide the events, training, and services you want and need in 2011.
And finally, I would like to thank all the volunteers, and the Board of Directors for all the hard work that they do. The dedication and commitment provided by these individual is priceless and appreciated by all. The Baltimore Chapter would not be where we are today if it wasn’t for the volunteers who we have to support all of our activities and events which the Chapter supports.
As always, my availability is always open. Thank you for your Valued Membership.
